DF920 first production multi in RTI 2008
In a breezy Round the Island Race 2008 on Saturday 28th June, our brand new 920 Extreme demonstrator finished first production boat in the MOCRA Multihull class on the water and on handicap in an elapsed time of 5 hours 10 minutes. Sailed by Jens Quorning, Al Wood and Matt Johnston, we were ahead of the ex-Ellen MacArthur 75ft 'B&Q' trimaran until shortly before the Needles. The 8 Dragonfly trimarans entered made up almost one third of the finishers in class, and crews enjoyed an exhilarating sail.
Richard Hammond enjoys sailing our DF920
Last winter we took Richard Hammond from BBC's 'Top Gear' sailing on our DF920 Touring to film a piece for his new TV show 'Engineering Connections' (photo above) which has now been released. The Winter storms abated with a few hours of sun and 20-25 knots, giving some great sailing chased by a camera RIB. Richard's final thought to camera? "I can't believe the speed of this thing". This from a man familiar with the world's fastest cars.

Dragonfly 35 awarded European Yacht of the Year 2008
For the second time, Quorning Boats has been awarded the prestigious title of European Yacht of the Year, this time for the Dragonfly 35 in the inaugural Multihull class. These awards are presented at the Düsseldorf Boat Show by a jury comprising of the 11 most respected yachting journals in Europe.
The German summary translates as: "Can flying be more beautiful? Hardly more beautiful anyway, than to fly over the waves in the Dragonfly 35 at a good 20 knots. The victory of this Danish trimaran in the inaugural Multihull class does not however only have to do with speed. It's intelligent concept helped it to a clear victory, and also ensures a high measure of cruising ability. Below decks, one must accept hardly any restrictions. The tri proved its constructional strength in the test with up to F8 and 4m waves (pictured). Impressive!"
Look out for the feature in the March issue of Yachting World.
Multihull Review - Production Engineering award
Quorning Boats and Dragonfly 35 have just received the Multihull Review Production Engineering Award with, among others, the following comments: "Down below it is a sophisticated cruising yacht - Above deck it is a beast ready to launch you 20 knots without a second thought. The boat is just fantastic in so many areas."
Quorning Boats celebrate 40th year
2008 marks the 40th year of trimaran production by Quorning Boats in Denmark. The first boats were Trident 28, a far cry from today's Dragonfly 35, still built on the same site by the second generation of the Quorning family. Congratulations to Jens and his team on reaching this special anniversary
Dragonfly 35 in Multihulls World mag Aug 07 issue
"This Dragonfly 35 trimaran is exciting; the maturity of the comfort-performance compromise it synthesises is remarkable, it is without a doubt one of the most successful cruising boats I have ever been given to test..."
Yachting World tests Dragonfly 35
In December, we took Yachting World out to Denmark to test the DF35. On a cold blustery day, we saw up to 21 knots as they put the boat through it's paces. Read David Pugh's thoughts in the April 2007 issue.

Dragonfly 920 voted amongst the all-time greats
Yachting Monthly have placed the DF920 at 45 in their
list of the 100 Best Boats of the Century (June 06).
They said: "If you could set adrenalin and build a boat out of it the result would be something like this high-performance trimaran. Haul in the sheets, hold tight and enjoy."
Their list includes famous race boats and influential cruising designs,
with the J-class Endeavour at number 1. The Dragonfly 920 is the only
production trimaran listed.
